Not 4 Wimps Trail Race

The Derby Run Club proudly presents the 27th annual Not 4 Wimps race! We are excited to offer a NEW starting line at the brand-new Warren Riverview park! You’ll be treated to a beautiful new 1440 square foot lodge, complete with a clear view of the Arkansas River. More trails, less street running and a few more challenges for those that accept our invitation to the N4W survivor club. You’ll still be treated to home-baked goodies at the finish line, but we’ve stepped-up the comfort level. You’ll enjoy the lovely fireplace, and a world-class view of those still coming in off of the course.

This is a timed course that is marked well, but it is still a trail course! If you don’t see any course markings, you are going the wrong way! If you are not leading the course and you come across a spider web, you may be going the wrong way! If you get lost and tack on some extra mileage, well then you got some extra bang for your buck! You’re not going to get an age group medal, or a finishers medal, or a pretty shirt with this race. When you get done, we have some awesome giveaways to go along with the pride of knowing that you didn’t wimp out and take the shortcut back.

1/2 Ass 1/2 Birthday Run

Why? Because we love fatass running and we love food and we love each other (most of the time). This is a laid back event but also provides a great opportunity for some serious training. The run starts at 2:30pm on Saturday afternoon and runs through 12:30pm on Sunday afternoon. You are welcome to come run some on Saturday, leave, and come back and run some more on Sunday. Or, if you choose, you can run the whole time or just through the night. For anyone needing some mental toughness training, this is a great opportunity as running trails in the dark can be challenging. You can also just come hang out in the cabin for a bit and take part in some Hawk naming ceremonies and some good eats.

We are half ass race directors and we will half ass mark the course. However, your safety is important to us so we will make sure you know the course or we will provide some run leaders for a loop or two. We will have a waiver for you to sign and a method to track your loops so we know who’s out on the course. The course will begin with a loop from Land’s End on blue to swim beach and back on white (5ish mile loop). At 12:30am the course will change and run from Land’s End on blue to Lake Henry and back on white (5ish mile loop). There are plenty of opportunities to loop back for a shorter distance should you so desire. This will, of course, depend a lot on weather and trail conditions. An alternate course will be decided should the trails be too muddy to run. We are hoping for snow and cool temps, unlike the real birthday run in August. BTW, your RD’s for this event are #teamwinter members.

We will be providing some snacks and beverages, but you are encouraged to bring something yummy to share as well (not required). We will be collecting money for donation to KTC (Kansas Trail Council). We are also planning a friendly little food competition. Details will be provided shortly. In fact, we will be posting updates over the next few weeks leading up to the inaugural event.

Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay & 10K

Come run your next half marathon with us in the heart of Missouri’s Ozarks.  You’ll love our interesting and mildly challenging course that’s staffed with some of the nicest volunteers you’ll meet.  Be a part of one of the most well ran races of its size in the Midwest.  This race will warm your heart.

The 13.1 mile Course is a two loop style course.  There is a short inner loop and a second larger outer loop.  All runners stay together until the intersection of Washington Ave. and Broadway.  At this point the 10k splits off.  The races rejoin at the “Court House Square”, and split apart again at Summit St. (Don’t worry Half Marathoners get their chance to climb Summit on the second loop!)  The half marathoners continue on to a second outer loop before finishing on the same course as the 10K.  There are few hills (4 to be exact) on this course , so be ready.  The remainder is either pancake flat or downhill, so you’re good.  You’ll love it.

Paddy O’Quigley’s 0.5K Winter Dash

All proceeds benefit the Brian M. Anselmo Memorial Foundation – a grand charitable organization doing great work for our community.  Oh – did we mention this is a fun, 0.5k “race” around the building?  Think you can you handle that?  Don’t take it too seriously — ‘cuz we don’t. Start at our front door and make a loop around the building — just 0.5K to cover.  If you need help on the way, stop at the Halfway House “Aid Station” for a hot toddy of sorts (adults) or hot cocoa (kids and adults).  Throughout the day, we’ll have games on the patio for young ‘n old alike, so come ready to have fun and fill your day with games and a little run.
