The Frisco Railroad Run is a flat and fast, rails to trails course. Last year the RRCA chose the 50 mile distance as a state record qualifier, and negotiations are underway to make the 13.1 mile and 50 mile distance state record qualifiers this year as well. Distances offered are the 8k/ half marathon or 13.1 mile/full marathon or 26.2 mile/50k/50 mile. The 50k and 50m will start at 0600 with a cutoff of 6 p.m. The marathon will start at 0700, half marathon at 0730, and 8k at 0745.

Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5K knows that it is unlike any other running event. It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a ten week season of Girls on the Run programming. By the day of the 5K, their enthusiasm is so unbridled that they are running around before the race! Friends of Lakeside Nature Center (FOLNC) is proud to be hosting its second annual trail run. We are the 5013c non-profit organization that helps support Lakeside Nature Center with volunteers and funding to help run one of the largest native wildlife rehabilitation hospitals in the state! The 7th annual Winslow Half Marathon and 5K Run will be held September 16, 2017.
Winslow Community Development Council, a local non-profit, started the race in 2011 to raise funds for area non-profit organizations. With a population of about 400 people, this small rural community is often overlooked by area organizations servicing larger cities.
This year’s race will again offer chip timing, a commemorative t-shirt, and distinctive finisher’s medals, all to support area non-profits.

The Helen Gold 5K – 10K charity event has grown from 200 runner-walkers in 2002 to over 1,000 participants. As a result, 100% of all contributions and registrations have helped raise over $700,000 for Parkinson’s Disease Research at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
