This is an email from the captain of the Warriors – the 2010 Spirit Award winners

I would like to take this time to thank every single person who either clapped, ran past us, shook our hand, honked, or just said we were plum crazy to be carrying the gear we did.

All my kids were under 25, except for me, and every single one of them has smiles on their faces as we sat at the finish line drinking a cold beer and all they talked about was this person said this or that person gave me a high five. It’s not that often we here at Ft. Leavenworth get a chance to get out into the community and show we’re here.

We did this for 3 reasons

1. For the Cystic Fibrosis foundation, a few Soldiers I knew have had family members taken down by this disease, and we did this in honor of them and all others…

2. To show you the Community that we thank you all for everything you’ve done to support us and this is one way we can give back to our Community.

3. To spend one day out of our busy lives to honor our Brothers and Sisters who are in harms way. 44 miles represented the burden that they, as well as you, face day to day.

The pack was about 40-50 pounds and represented the burden of Cystic Fibrosis

The log was that burden we all face, and as a team burdens are easier to tackle, but by itself burdens are tough and that darn log was about 70 pounds

From all my team members and myself, thank you for your encouragement throughout our ruck march…

We will be out next year, but earlier this time….
