Melissa is new to the sport of running. She started running in March 2011 when her weight loss journey hit a plateau. She signed up for a 5K and hasn’t stopped running since. Within the first year of running, she has completed several 5Ks and her first half marathon and helps lead a group run with the track club. With the help of exercise (mainly running!), diet and a positive “can-do” attitude, she has been able to lose over 60 pounds. Melissa has met a lot of great people through running and looks forward to sharing her love for running and exercise with others.
Outreach: Willing to run with and encourage anyone who needs it. Melissa is a co-leader of the Liberty Saturday Morning Running Group.
Goals: To encourage others to get healthy and to complete a full marathon someday.
Favorite Race Distance: Half Marathon (or 5K when running with others)
