John started running about six years ago. He ran his first organized 5K race in April 2006 and slowly worked to improve his time for that distance. As John increased his speed he realized he enjoyed running as a stress reliever and even more so as a weight management tool, given how much he likes to eat. John chose to increase his distance in January 2010 and ran his first 10K. Realizing he not only enjoyed running but enjoyed longer distances, he decided to venture out for a half marathon. John ran the Kansas City Half Marathon in October 2010 and then ran three more over the next 10 months. John ran the Chicago Marathon in October 2011 for his first and possibly only race of that distance.
